The remote desktop won't let me log on. The following message is returned:
"The Group Policy Client service failed the log on."
This is also the case for 2 other people.

Hello, Sorry that you encountered this problem. There are lots of servers that provide the Student Remote Desktop service and under certain conditions some member servers can stop accepting logons. This issue arises when our system doesn't recognise the problem has occured and sees this server as the "least loaded" and thus keeps sending you back there to logon, even though another 14 servers are absolutely fine! We've made some changes to the way that users are directed to logon to systems so this shouldn't occur - but it if does, simply retry and you'll be able to logon. Hope that helps!

Best if you can log a service desk call with IT Services : http://www.bristol.ac.uk/it-services/ so we can look at your account.

I'm having this problem over and over again! I can't use the shibboleth logon to JSTOR etc either, i'm not sure if this is a connected issue though

Alex - I've reset your account ; you should be able to logon.

I am having the same 'denied' message appear, I have tried many times, I can't access JSTOR at home because I can't use the remote desktop

We've corrected an issue with the system that connects you to servers this evening - so please retry and you should connect in OK. Remember that your "O:" drive is also available on all University machines and via the VPN. If you've got an urgent problem you should log this via the Service Desk (see www.bris.ac.uk/IT-Services)

Hi i can't log on the remote desktop on Mac either!!
i entered the correct username and password for many many many times, but it just didn't work and kept saying that "the credentials that were used to connect to studentremotedesktop.bris.ac.uk are incorrect. "
What should i do? -

hi - sounds like a different issue. you need to enter your username in the format username@uob - see http://www.bristol.ac.uk/it-services/...

Hi,
We're trying to connect to the staff remote desktop service from within the University using FreeRDP on Linux, and the compiled binaries supplied on the UoB website. We frequently (9 times out of 10) encounter an error after the system has opened the Windows Server 2008 login page, with the message:
The Group Policy Client service failed the logon
we're then presented with an OK button, which kicks us out without ever getting to the desktop.
Has anyone ever managed to solve this problem? Note that the behaviour is sporadic, with sometimes us being able to log in each time, and other times, never at all. It seems to vary depending on the username too (perhaps due to different departments?).
Cheers, Jon -
